So with me being in the IT industry I thought it was about time I started to review the cool gear I get to test, use and setup everyday.
Although I primarily do not work much on new gear I do keep pretty up to date with my personal equipment and like to keep the latest phones, laptops, tablets and other gadgets. Well today I thought, well I play on it all the time but why not talk about my experiences with my HP omen 15 Laptop.
Lets start with the specs, my machine is nearly 2 years old but still going well. The good thing about spending more money on a machine is that they tend to last much longer. My specs are below:
- Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU
- 8GB DDR 4 2666 RAM
- Intel 512Gb NvME Hard Drive
- 15 inch Full HD Display
- Nvideo 1050Ti Graphics Card
- Windows 10 Pro
As you can see from above, these specs are pretty respectable for a laptop. I have not found a title that this machine cannot play pretty much maxed out despite this machine being older.
I have not had the need to upgrade but find myself recently purchasing an Asus Tuf with AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, basically because I am keen to try out the Ryzen with gaming, plus its been a long time since I bought myself something nice and shiny and new.
The newest games that I have been enjoying are
- Metro Exodus
This game is amazing. It has an awesome story line and I have just finished the game, although with the bad ending. I will repeat the entire game with a better understanding of how the game actually works. Not to spoil it for anyone who has not played, but your actions and decisions do affect the outcome of the game. Keep that in mind.
- Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts
I have always had a thing for sniping games and enjoy the physics and more accurate sniping to be had in this game. I am still getting into this title.
- Counter Strike – Global Offensive.
This is another new one for me. Will let you know how it goes.
Bottom of the line is I play all the above titles maxed to the hilt. Everything full and have no issue with machine performance.
I have noticed on the 2 x Metal Gear Solid V titles that there is some lag. Will compare this on my new machine once it arrives later this week.
But in general review, this HP Omen is still one amazing machine. It performs flawlessly. It has an amazing build quality and to top it all off, it is also an amazing looking machine. I doubt that I will get rid of this machine anytime soon. I also have my reservations that my new Asus Tuf will live up to the performance of the HP Omen but I will do a side by side review of the two in performance and overall.
The only issue is my Asus Tuf has a normal HDD installed which will affect its speed and performance so before I do this review I will have to get an SSD installed.
