Everyone seems to know me as the stable firewall engineer. The go to guy when it comes to firewalls and networking. Yes this may be true and I have studied and continue to study hard to ensure that my knowledge is always up to date and current. But what some don’t know is that I have a life outside of being a Network / Server / Cybersecurity / Voip / SIP Architect and engineer.
I am a husband and a father. Yesterday I worked a full day and after fighting with my wife for several weeks to go see the doctor. She, being stubborn always fought back,
Well late yesterday afternoon my wife msg’d me saying she is really battling to breath and that she does not know what to do. I rushed home, which was interrupted half way by my daughter telling me “Dad mom has Fainted and I don’t know what to do”
When she said those words all sorts of bad things went through my mind. I panicked and my blood ran cold. I raced as fast as I could to get to the house. On arrival I rushed up and my wife lay there not able to move. Her colour was off and she did not look well at all.
We rushed off to the hospital and the emergency staff managed to stabilise her. It was at that point I realised that this could have gone so wrong. What if I where a little bit later. What if she fainted and nobody was there to tell me to rush…
Life is so short and delicate. Cherish those around you as they precious and the last thing you want is your loved ones becoming nothing more than memories.
Today I am a broken man. I am tired, feeling weak and still worried and concerned.
I pray that God keeps my loved ones safe and secure.
